Before Your Appointment

Here, you can find additional information about the products and procedures I use, as well as what to expect at the appointment.

My studio

I work alone in a private studio within Salon Row in downtown Long Beach, CA.

Getting to My Studio
My studio is located 5 minutes off of the I-710 and 10 minutes from the I-405. Once you have arrived at the front entrance, you can text me in order for me to come let you in.

Parking
There is free 2 hour lot parking throughout downtown Long Beach. The closest lot is City Place Parking Lot B. If our appointment is scheduled to take longer than 2 hours, feel free to let me know if you need to take a break in order to exit and re-enter the lot. There is also paid metered parking available on the street. Both options have accessible parking spaces that are typically available.

Cyclists, Bike Share & Transit Users
My studio is located within a block of the Pacific Ave. bikes lanes and the 3rd St. separated bike lanes. There are multiple bike racks located on the sidewalk in front of Salon Row. There is also a Bike Share hub located one block from my studio, at 5th St. & Long Beach Blvd. Lime & Bird e-scooters and e-bikes are plentiful throughout Long Beach and specifically in the downtown area as well.

My studio is a 5 minute walk from the Metro A Line 5th St. Station and the bus transit route 232.

Bringing a Support Person
If you bring a support person with you, I ask that they follow my COVID protocol. Your support person is welcome to accompany you to your appointment and be there throughout the tattoo process. My studio space is small and I ask that if you bring more than one support person, that they wait in the lobby, just outside of my studio.

Please feel free to bring headphones if you would like to watch something on your phone or would prefer to listen to your music during the tattoo.

Accessibility
My studio can accommodate wheelchair or other mobility aid users. There are accessible parking spaces located on the street and in the parking structure adjacent to my studio. There are curb ramps from the parking onto the sidewalk. The main entrance is accessible and the route through the suite space to my studio is at least 36” wide. Note that the edges of the rug in the lobby are not securely attached to the floor to reduce tripping hazards. Please note that the restrooms do not have doors with automatic or push-button openers.

Due to the need for disinfectant such as MaxiCide as a sterilant, and Green Soap as a skin cleanser, my studio is not scent-free. If you have scent sensitivities, please let me know ahead of time and I will make adjustments where I can (using a scent-free deodorant, removing essential oil diffuser, placing air purifier on high).

Any other accessibility needs such as music/speaking volume, fluorescent light sensitivity, need for headphones, allergy awareness, etc. can be made mention to me prior to your appointment. I’m happy to makes accommodations whenever possible!

Restrooms
There are two private, single-user and gender-neutral restrooms located within Salon Row.

How can I prepare?

Please come to your appointment hydrated and well-rested! For 24 hours before your appointment, avoid any blood thinners including alcohol or aspirin. If you forgot to eat before your appointment, please let me know- I do have snacks available. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks/snacks.

You should receive an automated email reminder from Calendly that will give you finalized details on getting to my studio. In this email there is a link to fill out a waiver/consent form that you can fill out before you arrive for your appointment.

A few details on my tattoo practice.

  • All of the materials I use are vegan and cruelty-free. As of February 2023, approximately 80% of my supplies are eco-friendly and compostable. The materials I use include:

    Kwadron surgical-grade stainless steel needles
Dynamic vegan and environmentally-friendly black ink
    Latex-free industrial nitrile gloves
    Recovery Derm Shield adhesive bandage

  • I use a rotary tattoo machine for lining my work and a pen machine for shading. My traditional blackwork style is defined by its bold lines. I work to tattoo one-pass lines to reduce trauma to the skin.

Due to the loudness of my machine, feel free to bring headphones, or feel free to ask for a pair of noise-cancelling ear muffs that I have on-hand.

  • After finishing your tattoo, I will apply an adhesive bandage that will stay on for 4-7 days. If you have adhesive allergies, I will instead use plastic wrap. For more information on aftercare, view my Aftercare page.
